She was a New Zealand former television journalist and public relations company director. Campbell began her career in radio broadcasting before she moved to TVNZ in 1986 to be the health reporter and to front live netball coverage. In 1989, she became the first woman to anchor a New Zealand sports show when she took the post of presenter on Sportsnight. Later she launched her own public relations company, Cathy Campbell Communications.
