He was a professional Luxembourgian road bicycle racer and was active in competition from 1946 to 1954. He wore the yellow jersey for three days in 1951 and won three stages of the Tour de France (Menton in 1950, Ghent in 1951, and Namur in 1952).

Bim Diederich was the grandfather of the current champion of Luxembourg, Laurent Didier (RadioShack).
